First Anniversary of Pope Francis Herbal Garden

The First Anniversary of Pope Francis Herbal Garden was celebrated today with a meaningful liturgy in the morning and a devotional prayer service in the evening. There was a candle light procession carrying the statue of Our Lady from Theos Basket ball court to the Herbal garden. In the garden we had rosary as we also celebrate the feast of Immaculate Conception Today. We fondly remember and thank all those people who toiled in making this garden a reality.

Nature Walk

Around 50 heads and staff of various Jesuit Institutions were gathered for an IPP programme in PG Block at JDV, Pune. DNC Tarumitra was invited to present and share various Eco initiatives taken in the campus to promote Ecological Sensitivity with the group. The Group was also taken for a Nature walk in DNC campus explaining some eco works like Herbal Garden, Oganic Farming, Vermicomposting, Waste Water Treatment and Rain Water Harvesting. The Group was filled with awe and wonder when they were taken into DNC Jungle and allowed to interact with the trees. Some even had spiritual and transformative experience.

Nature Walk for the Catechism Students

Catechism Students from St Patrick's Cathedral, Pune came to our DNC Campus and they were taken for a nature walk in our campus. Various Ecological initiatives that we follow in our campus were demonstrated and showed to them. They were moved and deeply enlightened. The theme was "Finding God in all Things." They learned to respect Mother Earth and to appreciate God's Creation. It was practical and concrete experience. Some of them even had emotional and transforming experiences.

AICUF Students Serving Nature

AICUF Students from Mumbai and Pune spent time serving nature in Pope Francis Herbal Garden at DNC. They were filled with varied feelings and emotions and went back with immense experience of being one with nature.

Van Mahotsav (Tree Plantation Drive)

DNC Tarumitra organized Van Mahotsav, a Tree Plantation Drive on August 4, 2016 Thursday. Nearly 80 saplings were planted by the students and staff. Fr Edward Mudavassery, SJ the rector of the college gave a powerful and inspiring message on the importance of trees and the need to plant them. Fr Zachaeus was the chief guest, he presented the saplings to the group leaders who later along with their members marched raising eco slogans and planted the saplings with great fervor and rigour. This drive envisages promoting eco awareness in the campus. It is also an effort to add more greenery in the already lush green campus. The students will take care of the plants for a year. An environmental audit will be conducted to assess the growth of the plants regularly. Fr Jacob the administrator with the help of the student coordinators Schs Thambi and Ragu for DNC Tarumitra (Tree Plantation Drive) made all the necessary arrangements for the event.
